About the exhibition

Katharina Sabernig, born in 1971 in Linz, is a physician, anthropologist, and artist focused on the representation of the human body in science and art. Inspired by the diversity of anatomical illustrations, she began knitting anatomical and pathological objects in 2015.

These artworks not only reflect her scientific expertise but also offer a new perspective on visualizing the human body. Her textile interpretations are now displayed alongside the historical wax models at the Josephinum, providing an accessible view of anatomical representations for all age groups. The exhibition merges medical precision with artistic expression, demonstrating how creative approaches can expand and enrich our perspective on medical subjects.
